Snake is the entry-level surfskate by Balance Board Pro, 2027 edition, in preview: a 32.5" board handmade in Italy, €159 complete, VAT included.
Very stable and easy to ride: it suits riders taking their first steps on a surfskate, or anyone who uses it for cruising, without giving up build quality.
Stable like a thruster
The rear truck sits a little further back. Under your feet it feels like surfing a thruster, a three-fin board: nice and stable. You carve deep and the board stays glued to the ground.
When you start out, it's normal to shift your weight back. Snake stays stable and doesn't wheelie. That's a plus for safety too.
How it's built
The board is 32.5" (82.6 cm) long and 9.4" (24 cm) wide, with a retro shape and a single kicktail at the back (monokick). Around 32" is the size usually recommended for a first surfskate. The wheelbase is 17.1" (43.4 cm), so the turning radius and the zig-zag are ideal for beginners.
The trucks are the same ones we fit on our other surfskates. What changes is the rear truck position, set further back. The black wheels are 65x41 mm 78A centerset, the bearings ABEC 7.
The artwork is marine-inspired: the Snake, a skeletal sea serpent from the abyss, comes out of Japanese-style waves under a setting sun, on a red deck. On top there's black griptape with a wood inlay and the engraved Balance Board Pro logo. It's handmade in Italy.
Two versions
- Complete surfskate, €159: deck with griptape and every component mounted. Unbox it and ride.
- Deck only, €90: the Snake deck with griptape and no components, if you'd rather build your own setup.
